Aim |
By organizing the Southern District Violin Competition 2009, together with a series of music talks, and providing prize winners of the competition a chance to perform with the Hong Kong Southern District Orchestra, we hope to promote music knowledge and raise the musical standard in the district, especially among the teenagers. |

Announcement of result |
|
Merits will be selected from preliminaries of all classes by the adjudication panel. Champion, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up will then be selected after finals. Results of the preliminaries and finals will be announced immediately after the competition and available on the website on 26th November, 2009. |

* The number of awards for each category will be decided by the adjudicators, and in accordance with the performance results. |
* Teachers of the champion, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up in each class will be presented with a certification to acknowledge their endeavour. |

Rules and Regulations |
|
1. |
Citizens living, working or studying in Southern District, with no restriction on nationalities, are welcome to apply for the competition. |
2. |
Each contestant can only compete in the class with regard to their age groups, except for the Junior and Senior Open class. |
3. |
Once application fee is paid, no refund, alteration of competing classes or contestant is allowed. |
4 |
The Competition Committee will mail a letter of notification before 20th Oct., 2009 for contestants to confirm their personal information. If letter is not received until 23rd Oct., 2009, please make an enquiry via phone or email (violincomp@hksdorchestra.com) as soon as possible. |
5. |
Photocopies of repertoire are not allowed for competition. Repertoire of each class can be reserved by making enquiry to the Competition Committee. |
6. |
Lots will be drawn to decide the order of contestants. The Competition Committee reserves the right to alter the competition slots and to affirm the result of the contestants. |
7. |
Contestants must bring along their genuine copy of Hong Kong Identity Certification document and the ‘Letter of Notification’ when joining the competition. |
8. |
Contestant must observe the rules and regulations of the competition. |
9. |
Adjudicators reserve the right to halt contestants’ performance if the performance is enough for the panel to come up with a score. |
10. |
Piano will be provided in the competition. Contestant must bring their own piano accompanist. Otherwise, one may risk disqualification. |
11. |
Certificate will be presented if contestant attends the theme talk after preliminaries. |
12. |
Champions of each class will be invited to perform in “The Concert of Hong Kong Southern District Orchestra 2009 – Prize-giving Ceremony of Hong Kong Southern District Violin Competition 2009”. All champion are required to join TWO rehearsals held on 20th Nov., 2009 and 27th Nov., 2009. The Competition Committee reserves the right to repeal awards if one fails to attend both rehearsals and the ceremony without reasonable notification. |

Prize-winners awarded 1st runner up, 2nd runner up and merit should attend the Prize-giving Ceremony held on 28th Nov., 2009. The Committee reserves the right to repeal awards if one fails to attend the ceremony without reasonable notification. |
